My pump is occasionally loud, I found that if I put the pump somewhere that it can't move, like cram it underneath a window air conditioner, I couldn't hear it at all.

Another thing I found out is that when I put the air pump below the aquarium water would get into it from the air hose, it would still work, but that was making it louder. If I unplugged the air hose I could actually see water shooting out with the air - not good.

And I think some pumps are just louder than others - try insulating the air pump with a cloth or something and that might help too (Posted on 11/21/09)

I love my biorb, but is the air pump supposed to be so loud? Anyone else have problems with this? Does it mean I need a new one, or is it just the pump, or me doing something wrong? (Posted on 11/21/09)
